Message from the Chairman – 20th February 2018

I was deeply shocked on Friday to be informed that there was a problem with Companies House and immediately contacted them to ascertain the situation.

It would appear that they did not receive our annual accounts which were due by the 30th September 2017, they therefore sent us a letter dated the 5th December 2017 giving us 2 months to submit the accounts or we would be dissolved without further warning. This letter was not received by either myself or Louise and I have asked Companies House to track the letter.

I am certain that I completed our accounts and submitted them online prior to the 30th September because I learnt on the 27th September that my brother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and so completed this and other necessary tasks before setting off to care for him. However, at this difficult time I can imagine it entirely possible that I was under stress and so did not complete every stage of the submission or perhaps made an error that made them invalid. Had we received the letter in December I could have immediately re-submitted them but as far as I was aware all was fine.

We have already begun the process of restoration which should take a maximum of 4 weeks. I am very disappointed that a few people (none current members of the society) have chosen to exploit the current situation for their own ends which are certainly not for the benefit of our society and its members. We are informing all relevant organisations and no concerns have so far been raised.

There is no problem with the societies finances and all shows will run as scheduled. We will keep members informed as to the progress of the restoration, if there are any queries please email the office directly –

May I take this opportunity to thank all the members who have sent condolences for the death of my Father last week, as you can imagine this has been a tough winter for us but we are looking forward to the upcoming show season and to seeing members old and new at the Spring Show in April.

2018 BMHS allocated shows for measuring announced:

Please remember that you can compete in RIHS classes without being measured first but the horse must be measured by the 21st May for any qualification to remain valid. No horse may compete in a HOYS qualifier without being measured first. We also offer life height certificates at a cost of £5 each, these are available to horses 7 years old and over that have been measured for three consecutive years. It is the responsibility of the owner/handler to make sure their horse gets measured at one of the allocated shows during the season.

Measuring will take place at the following shows for the 2018 showing season:

NPS Area 13 Spring Show (Onley) – 10th March

Pachesham Show – 2nd April

BMHS Spring Show – 7th April

Royal Welsh Spring Show – 19th/20th May
