BRITISH MINIATURE HORSE SOCIETY TWELFTH INTERNATIONAL SUPREME CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS MINIATURE HORSE BREEDS SHOW (SIXTEENTH ANNUAL SHOW)
The sixteenth annual Breed Show of the British Miniature Horse Society, including the twelfth International Supreme Champion of Champions, was held in glorious sunshine on Saturday 30th August at Stretcholt Equestrian Centre, Bridgwater in Somerset for the second year running.

Three outdoor rings and a jumping arena were well filled throughout the day which opened with three Horse of the Year Show qualifying classes, with wins going to MH Apollo shown by Julian Quiney in the three years and over stallions class, Nehi Chinchee May shown by Mrs Yaxley in the three years and over mares and geldings class and Baby Doll shown by Danielle McDaid in the Yearlings and Two year old class. The champion in the HOYS section was MH Apollo with the reserve going to Baby Doll.

With several new classes and a brand new championship open to unregistered horses of any age we are expecting this year’s annual show to be our biggest ever. For first timers just a few points to note:-
- Those taking part in the evening performance are encouraged to wear evening attire.
- Everyone is welcome to stay on for our popular supper and social evening. (Please book tickets in advance)
- You are welcome to stay over night in your lorry or under canvas (toilet block open 24 hours). Either Friday or Saturday or both nights.
- We are happy for you to use your lorry as a stable, alternatively you can book stabling.
- There are a number of classes for un-registered horses, also over height horses.
- There are many prizes and trophies available including £300.00 in cash prizes, rugs, vouchers etc.
- Various refreshments are available throughout the day.
- The photographer is happy to take individual or group photographs outside the ring if required.

On Friday 18th July 2008 at the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Society Show, Pantir Marco Polo covered himself and the whole Miniature Horse world in glory. Marco Polo owned by Mrs Blore and shown by Katrina Blore, won the Miniature Horse Championship from an entry of 30, he then went on to win the Red Rose Supreme In hand Championship judged by Miss Julie Nutall.

Mrs Blore's yearling Spotlights Gazebo was reserve champion in the Miniature Horse Championship and the two year old class was won by Louise Armitage with Vandeema Uno Rebels Kid of Monarch.

Please note that the Chester Racecourse show which was due to be held on Friday 1st August 2008 has cancelled all of the showing classes, including the Horse of the Year Show qualifiers for the British Miniature Horse Society.
It has been agreed that the North of England In Hand Show held at Osbaldeston Hall Farm Equestrian Centre, Blackburn, Lancs on the 19th July will now hold the replacement HOYS classes. The secretary for the show is Mr S Hollings, Blue Slate Stables, Showley Road, Clayton-Le-Dale, Blackburn, Lancashire. Telephone number – 01254 812805. Entries close on the 5th July 2008. Please state the BMHS classes when asking for a schedule.

There was a fine turnout, with several first time exhibitors. Thanks to generous sponsors , many fine prizes and trophies were handed out during the day, and at the evening performance. Overall winner was MH Appollo, who went on to be HOYS Champion also. Many members stayed on to enjoy a lively supper party before staggering back to their horseboxes/tents etc for the night.
Our AGM will be held on Saturday 24th November at Stretcholt Farm, starting at 11.30am with an introduction to driving and a lungeing demonstration by a Classical dressage master. Following the AGM, will be a presentaton of Awards and a festive supper.
- 05 April 2007: ARDINGLY SPRING SHOW - Royal International Horse Show Qualifiers
Classes this year were held on the last day (Thursday) instead of the usual first day. The most notable change though was the weather! From the normal wet, windy and very chilly days we have had in previous years, this year we were blessed with spring sunshine which was a real joy for spectators, handlers and most particularly the horses as the classes were held in the big outdoor arena. read more...
