BMHS Auction
14 April 2007
The British Miniature Horse Society's second Auction of Registered Miniature Horses took place at Zeals House in Wiltshire on Saturday 14 April amidst glorious spring sunshine.
Once again, there were some truly excellent horses put forward with breeding lines from some of our top breeders from the UK and abroad.
Although there were fewer in number than last year, 80% of the horses sold with an average price of 950 guineas. Two shared the top price this year at 2,500 guineas each.
Fillies generated more interest with the buyers than colts although we are pleased to report that the one gelding was sold to a very happy new owner. Some of the horses will be seen out and about showing this season and others have gone to family homes to be thoroughly spoilt!
Spectator numbers were about the same as in 2006 and this is certainly an area that we need to improve for the future. It can take sometime for events such as these to evolve and a certain type of brave person to be encouraged to start off the bidding!
The Auction provides a showcase for all BMHS breeders and owners and everyone is encouraged to participate through either selling, buying or supporting the onward breeding programmes of our dedicated members. Our horses can be enjoyed by so many people !
Next year's Auction / Sale will be held in April so start planning NOW !!
